Chairs of Research
Establish a Chair of Research
Establishing a Chair of Research is a way to honor the life of a loved one by funding basic scientific research directed at early detection, improved treatment modalities, and technological advances that will ultimately improve outcomes for patients with brain aneurysms. It is often the result of hard work by family and friends who wish to pay tribute to a special person.
A Chair of Research sponsors the research of one grant recipient for a year at a minimum level of $10,000. Grant awards will be presented at the Brain Aneurysm Foundation’s Annual Research Grant Awards Symposium during the month of September. Grant donors are usually present at the Grant Awards Symposium to personally present the grant.
Each year, the Research Grant Committee, a team of world-renowned neurosurgeons from the Brain Aneurysm Foundation’s Medical Advisory Board, carefully reviews all the research grant requests from neuroscience leaders and determines which projects merit funding. The Brain Aneurysm Foundation has become the world’s leading source of private funding of brain aneurysm research.
The research conducted thus far has been both basic science and clinical. To date, some exciting work has been produced in finding better ways to manage aneurismal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), vasospasm, and to understand the mechanism for aneurysm growth. Researchers are honored to receive a Chair of Research and they are inspired by the personal stories behind each Chair.
The establishment of a Chair of Research will be announced on the Brain Aneurysm Foundation website and in our newsletter.
