Omid Amili, PhD
Omid Amili is an Assistant Professor in mechanical engineering at the University of Toledo and the director of the Laboratory for Fluid Mechanics. His laboratory uses physical experiments complemented by numerical simulations to investigate the physics of fluids in complex settings. The research focus has been primarily on unladen and particle-laden turbulence, high-speed flows, and biological flows. A wide range of optical and non-optical methods including high-speed imaging, particle image/tracking velocimetry (PIV/PTV), holography, schlieren, phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (4D Flow MRI), and acoustic measurements are used and further developed. Dr. Amili teaches thermal-fluids courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels that include Fluid Mechanics, Fluids Laboratory, Thermodynamics, and Intermediate/Advanced Fluid Mechanics.
