Edgar A. Samaniego, MD, MS, is the Director of the Vascular Neurology Fellowship. He is an experienced board-certified Vascular Neurologist, Neurocritical Care and Neurointerventional Surgeon. Dr. Samaniego is a clinical Associate Professor in Neurology with secondary appointments in Neurosurgery and Radiology. His research focuses is in high-resolution imaging and post-acquisition processing for the study of acute stroke. His laboratory has developed a pipeline for the study and characterization of brain aneurysms and subarachnoid hemorrhage. The ultimate goal of his laboratory is to determine biological features of the aneurysm wall that would lead to the identification of unstable aneurysms. His laboratory also studies intracranial atherosclerosis to better characterize plaque burden and response to medical interventions.
