Carolina Maier, PhD

Carolina Maier, Ph.D. is the Vice President of Clinical Affairs at RapidAI, the global leader in neurovascular and vascular AI-enhanced clinical decision support and patient workflow. Prior to joining RapidAI in 2012, Maier spent 13 years as a neuroscientist at Stanford University. After obtaining her PhD in Neuroscience from Stanford in 1999, she worked as a Senior Scientist in the Stanford Department of Neurosurgery where she focused on pre-clinical development of novel therapies for stroke treatment. She has been an author on more than 30 peer-reviewed research papers and 8 book chapters, as well as co-authored the book Hypothermia and Cerebral Ischemia: Mechanisms and Clinical Applications. Maier began her scientific pursuits at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she earned a degree in Microbiology. After dedicating most of her career to stroke research, Maier proudly joined the Brain Aneurysm Foundation Board of Directors in 2023. Maier is also honored to be a member of the Society for Neuroscience, the International Brain Research Organization, the American Heart Association Scientific Council, and the Neurotoxicity Society.
