The key to the success of any brain aneurysm awareness event is fundraising. Your collective enthusiasm, determination and generosity have enabled The Brain Aneurysm Foundation to fund cutting edge research, provide education and support programs and continue to create more awareness about brain aneurysms. We are so grateful for your efforts!

Ten Top Tips for Fundraising
1. Start early
The sooner you start asking for donations, the more money you will raise. As soon as you register to become a fundraiser, get organized and start asking!
2. Customize your personal fundraising webpage
Include a personal story why you are participating, along with videos or photos. Tug at the heart strings of prospective donors!
3. Set a challenging but attainable goal
Your fundraising goal should be a stretch, but doable. If you are getting close to your goal, then raise it so people continue to donate.
4. Share you commitment with others
Tell everyone you know what you are doing, and ask them to tell everyone they know; the excitement is contagious and your story will inspire others. Articulate why you are taking on this walk for brain aneurysm awareness.
Your commitment will be the reason they choose to give you a donation. Make a list of every person you know – the obvious (friends and family) and the not-so-obvious
(neighbors, acquaintances, business associates, club members, team members, alumni associates, etc.) You have just created your donorlist. You’ll be surprised who gives!
5.Customize your emails
Include a personal story — why you’re raising money, why it’s important to you, and where the money goes.
6. Ask, ask, and ask again
It seems so simple, but it’s what most people think is the hardest thing to do. You can only raise money if you ask for it. Send a first email announcing your participation, a second email asking for donations, an update email, and a ‘last chance’ email. People can only make a donation if you give them the opportunity. Don’t be shy about asking more than once. People need to be reminded! Imagine your
sense of accomplishment in raising $1,000. Now imagine doubling or even tripling your fundraising goal, simply because you asked.
7. Add social media to the mix
Use status updates in Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn to update your friends on your fundraising and provide a direct link to your fundraising webpage. Add the URL for your fundraising webpage to your email signature.
8.Get creative
Hold an auction or raffle. Throw a party. Have a fundraising night at a local restaurant or bar.
9. Join a team or start your own team
Need help to stay motivated? Join a team or start your own team for camaraderie, encouragement, and friendly competition. There’s power in numbers!
10. Send a personalized thank you
After you’ve completed your fundraising, send your results to donors and thank them again for their help. You might need their support again next year!
Your contribution makes a difference!
