Publications on BAF Funded Research Projects

The Brain Aneurysm Foundation is the largest private funder of brain aneurysm research. Each year the Foundation awards research grants for basic scientific research directed at early detection, improved treatment modalities, and technological advances that will ultimately improve outcomes for patients with brain aneurysms. Projects that are focused on translational research, clinical outcome research, early detection, imaging, and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and its associated complications are also awarded funding.

All grant applications are submitted to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation’s Research Grant Committee. Each application undergoes a rigorous scoring process lead by Robert Rosenwasser, MD, FACS, Professor of Radiology and Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Rosenwasser, along with other members of the Foundation’s Medical Advisory Board, score all grant applications to determine which projects will be funded based on their potential merit.

The Foundation’s continued commitment to provide critical research support for this prevalent, yet under-funded condition, is made possible by the hard work and generosity of many patients, families, and friends affected by brain aneurysms. Because the federal funding for brain aneurysm research is disproportionately low at approximately $2.08 per year for each person afflicted with a brain aneurysm,we remain steadfast in our research goal to better understand and manage brain aneurysms today, and to advance the care and recovery of future brain aneurysm patients.

Since the inception of our grant program, we have funded over $3 million to hundreds of researchers and many of those funds have resulted in publications.
